About Red Balloon
Hi from me Hayley and my red balloon partner mum Gill. I am married to Richard and we have two young children Finley and Maddaline, my mum is married to my dad Richard (Yes can be confusing!)
We have always enjoyed shopping for good quality stylish clothes for our children and like you do- romanced with the idea of having our own baby/childrens wear shop so when the opportunity arose to take over the former "Baby and Carriage" we thought lets just do it and in May 2008 following a crazy Bank Holiday weekend re-fit by hubby Richard and dad Richard - (not only do they share the same name but are both carpenters - lucky for us !!)and with lots of help from the in-laws - you know who you are - the champagne corks popped and Red Balloon opened its doors.
The front of our thinking was to create a bright fresh airy family friendly ethos with space for our customers with prams and the children to come along and raid the toy box leaving the grown ups to browse in relative peace!!
Sometimes the shop resembles a playgroup but thats the way we like it, we want our customers to feel relaxed and just come in for a chat if they want (highly recommended from Lucy's cafe - take away latte)
Our priority is to have good quality brands with prices to suit most pockets. Red Balloon is in the market town of Ossett down a quaint cobbled street known as Wellgate and just outside our shop is the Well with seating around it where the children love to drop coins in the "Well" which all go to charity. Tuesdays and Fridays are market days and there is a car park adjacent to our shop which is 50p for 2 hours at the moment. The main square is a pedestrian only zone and has lots of seating so you can sit and watch the world go by or dine al-fresco while the kids ride their bikes/scooters (weather permitting).
